![]() WORKSHOP CURRICULUM If you're a complete beginner, this workshop will teach you two different types of casts, how to choose the right fly, and how to fish nymphs, wet flies and streamers to catch trout in most settings. You'll also learn about equipment selection, tying knots, and basic river structure. And, of course, we'll catch some fish! In just one day, you'll learn all the basics that would normally take you months to figure out on your own. You certainly won't learn everything, but you'll be well-prepared to tackle most of Missouri's trout streams that hold hatchery-raised fish. If you don't own your own equipment, this workshop will include a loaner fly rod for the day (waders not needed for this class). All-inclusive Weekend Class If you're looking for a weekend getaway and are interested in not only the basics but also the finer points of fly-fishing for trout, this class will provide everything you could hope for. In addition to the skills provided in Fly-Fishing 101, you'll learn more advanced casting techniques, as well as additional focus on trout biology, feeding behaviors, entomology, advanced fly selection, and reading the water to find the fish. You'll receive more advanced instruction on nymphing, wet flies and streamer fishing, as well as discussion on dry fly fishing and fishing multi-fly rigs. And we'll wrap up the class by tying it all together to explain how to problem-solve an unfamiliar trout stream from scratch. If you don't own your own equipment, this workshop will include a loaner fly rod and a set of waders. Private Lessons If you'd rather have our instructors all to yourself, then private lessons are a great option. These classes are designed specifically to deliver what you want to learn. Just want to focus on advanced casting techniques? No problem. Wish you knew how to fish dry flies more effectively? Piece of cake. Or maybe you want to learn it all! Whatever you need, we can make it happen. Just give us shout. |
