NOTE: As of February 4, 2019, I have exactly 17 books left in stock, so I'm clearing them out. Once they're gone, I won't be selling them through the website any longer, but they'll still be available online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Target, and Thriftbooks, among others. These last 17 books will all be signed by yours truly.
Want to be a better trout fisherman? Of course, you do. But these fish are complicated, aren't they? Actually, they're not as perplexing as you give them credit for. In fact, what confuses fishermen the most is our reluctance to accept some simple truths.
More than four decades of my efforts to figure out the trout are represented within these pages. This book will make you a better fisherman.

Reviews:
"(This book is) concentrated, very focused and has no "fluff" in the text or in the presentation. It does contain anecdotes and stories from Fulps' childhood and youth, but most of the book is stuffed with facts and observations, and tends to be more scientific in its approach to the subject than the average fishing book. It reminds me of Jason Randall's "Trout Sense" and Colin Kageyama's "What Fish See" and to some extent Datus Proper's "What the Trout Said" in the sense that it covers fish behavior and physiology in a way that's aimed at anglers, but very much with an outset in precise and well researched scientific observations.
This book has a lighthearted and entertaining angle of observation, but readers should not be fooled by that. I'm certain that Fulps has spent a lot of time researching – and not only by the water, but also in the library. You feel that you are in safe hands when the talk falls on trout physiology and ethology as well as when it comes to trout behavior on the water in a fishing situation. Just like the three titles mentioned above, the book takes an angle different from the traditional one when it comes to fishing tactics, fly selection and much more. They try to give you an understanding and try to enable you to learn to draw your own conclusions at waterside. Many other books will conclude for you and teach you "facts," but I certainly prefer to be taught the underlying principles and learn to "think" rather than learning hard facts."

"Compelling! Trout anglers are caught up in the fairy tales and fables of the sport. Walt Fulps' "Trout Are Stupid - And Other Uncomfortable Truths" bursts our proverbial bubbles. Wit, wisdom and keen observation of both human and trout behaviors, catapults Fulps' work from the "if or when to read" category, into the "must read" category for every serious trout fisherman. His brilliant insights into the world of the trout launches readers into a higher level of understanding and appreciation for the fish that haunts our dreams."

"As a young fisherman looking for guidance on fly fishing in Missouri, Walt's Missouri Trout Hunter website was an amazing discovery that shaped who I became as an angler. A lifetime on the water and decades guiding anglers have left Walt Fulps with a treasury of knowledge regarding trout fishing. This book is an entertaining must-read for everyone looking to expand their understanding of our sport."

"Walt challenges all anglers, not just trout anglers, to reexamine their ideas about the fish they are attempting to catch. His book contains many examples of conclusions that have been arrived at by careful observation and by scientific facts. The book is well illustrated with diagrams and photographs... If you are an angler, you must read this book."
